I am Knott surprised! I received my stunning unfinished project swap from Diane Knott of Diane Knott's Musings. With nary a sneak peek I was surprised by this lovely collage...(Oh dear, probably should have moved the box of newly adopted instant ancestors before taking the photo! Sorry! Click any photo to enlarge for better viewing.)
I sent Diane an unfinished background piece with a bare branch on it and she turned it into this positively precious work of art. This piece is so "me" and I love every little detail of it. Of course she used one of my favorite inspirational subjects, a bird...
I adore the detail of the wee string around its beak as it being placed in the nest...The layers of vintage lace on the corners and behind the bird are a perfect touch...I love that she built the background up by mounting it on a wooden plaque which is painted green, my favorite color, and distressed...I am not sure if you can tell from the photos but the bird is slightly curled and dimensional, combined with the nest and eggs it give the piece depth...The sweet little tag says it all, this bird has arrived at its "Home Sweet Home"...I am trying to decide one of two places in my studio to let this beauty nest so I can look at it often and be inspired. Diane, thank you so much for this super fun swap, I really do love it!
She also sent along this precious tag. Love those sweet velvet leaves and Diane, you do make me feel special by putting so much time, creativity, and thought into the artwork. I think we make a pretty special creative team!
Thank you for all your sweet comments on the bird tags from yesterdays post. I was just using up my scraps. The blue flower is made from remnants of Alice's dress from the tag swap and if you look closely you can even find some of those nut shell eggs tucked in the moss nests.

Some of you wanted to know where I got the bird images. I made a collage sheet to share here on my blog a while back, here it is again if you want to save it to your computer to use in your artwork. (FREE IMAGE)
These images are from a really old falling apart bird book that I have, they are not really crisp or clear but sort of soft and blurred but I love them anyway.
I used the images in this simple Nature Notes Collage Journal.I will be in studio all week this week dedicating myself to actually getting new shoppe listings done! I also hope to finish up a new tutorial to share with you. I hope your Tuesday holds something that makes you feel special!
Blessings,
Miss Sandy

Ohhhh, that truly is exquisite. What you gals do makes me wish that I had a lick of talent for this kind of work. I'm in total awe.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, Miss Sandy, is that bird page supposed to open larger? It's not. Perhaps I could resize, but I'm thinking the details might get lost.
Sandy- I just love your projects, just the perfect combination of color and age- always inspiring. Thanks for the bird collage sheet- can't wait to start a bird project of my own.
