MEET CLARA SCARLETT...

All I can say is that there's a sweetness here, a Southern sweetness, that makes sweet music...

-Al Green-
I'd like to introduce you to my latest project, Miss Clara Scarlett...She is my first attempt at an altered doll assemblage. Her beginnings were quite humble...Clara Scarlett is the most Southern of belle's and she dreams of dancing...She dreams of a hat to match the shade of her eyes...She dreams of a custom made gown with a fitted bodice and billowing skirt...She dreams of her first pair of handmade dancing slippers ordered all the way from Snyder Brothers in New York, dealers in boots, shoes, and slippers...
She dreams of wearing her great grandmothers pearls...She dreams of her first calling cards with her name inscribed in a scrolling script...She dreams of receiving her first rose...
Which she dreams of pinning in her hair...Its scent wafting around her as she swirls around the dance floor while wrapped in the arms of her beloved...She dreams of being a princess on a pedestal for one enchanted evening...She dreams of a collection of mementos and memories from her magical night...She dreams of that certain Southern syrupy sweetness...She dreams...

I hope you have enjoyed dreaming right along with Clara Scarlett and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Miss Sandy

  9. Sandy, she is a real beauty, a fantastic art piece. And maybe because of her name---but also of her look and beauty, I had to think of Scarlett O`Hara--I loved :Gone with the Wind----and that she also had a time, where she could only dream of happy momentoes in her life.
I love how you made her "collections of dreams"-gorgeus.
Thanks for showing your beautifull Southern Bell.
    Hugs, Dorthe
