I am so excited, my poor tired old blog is getting a face lift from the fabulous Karen of Valentine Design! I did not realize how many decisions had to be made in order to get a face lift. There is far more to this design business than a little nip here or a tiny tuck there. Karen is going to smooth out the wrinkles of my current design, like those pesky boxes around everything - gone! And, all the misalignment issues - gone! My blog is going to look years younger, fresher, lighter, up to date, but with that old fashioned vintage vibe I so love.It was a delight to speak to her on the phone but I confess being a nervous control freak. (behind the scenes of course!) I have every confidence in Karen's design abilities and I am sure she knows what I want even if I am not too certain. It is an interesting process to say the least.
I have learned some things about myself and about my art. There is a duality to my artwork so I ended up giving Karen two color schemes, two styles, two of everything really and it will be intriguing to see how she combines the choices. Plus there is the challenge of combining both passions of art and writing into the design. Poor girl, she might wish to surgically remove me from the process!
I realized after gathering things for her to work with that I actually use both styles and color schemes in my creative efforts. The pastel beach feeling colors are woven into the design of my writing cottage and the sepia neutrals are woven throughout the decor of my art studio but somehow they blend beautifully and tie together with elements of nature that give me so much inspiration. These colors cross over into my artistic designs as well.
I discovered that if I were to line my work up it fits into two distinct categories of color schemes. I never noticed this until now. This is really helpful in finding my artist style, which I am still fleshing out. I am also noticing preference of materials that I choose to work with. Sometimes I go off the grid and try something experimental but for the most part I am starting to get an idea of who I am and where I am going on this mixed media odyssey.I'll be taking a few days away from the computer while Karen works on the design and I get caught up on a few things here. I hope to see you soon sporting my new look!

Oh Sandy, You will love what Karen does for your blog, she is so in tune with what people want, she will do a beautiful job! You could not have picked a better or more talented person, she is WONDERFUL! She did my blog and I could have her do so many looks I wish I had time for more blogs, just for the different looks and holidays, one day maybe, if I win the lottery I will have one of Karen's blog for every big holiday there is! Hi Sandy
ReplyDeleteKaren is awesome, she is also tweaking my blog. She designed my blogshop and I love it. She has such a feel for what a person want to reflect, she has a gift.
Love your artwork, the nature theme is wonderful and I love your color pallet.
