PRETTY IDEAS...

I just love sharing pretty ideas and today I have a couple of links that I think you will love. With autumn cloaking the country and winter fast on its heels many of summers garden delights are beginning to fade away. Flower has a wonderful idea on preserving a bit of summer by bringing it indoors with delightful tabletop gardens. Be sure and check out the link at the end of her post to see last years lovely little gardens and how she puts them together.(PHOTOS COURTESY OF FLOWER)

Along with thoughts of winter come those of Christmas and you just have to visit A Spectacular Mess for a fantastic tutorial on making a star bow from old vintage book pages. You can bet I will be making some of these to top my packages this year. I think these would look great on a simple brown paper wrapped package with and accent strip of burlap and jute twine topped off with a twig of greenery. Just love these!(PHOTO COURTESY OF A SPECTACULAR MESS)

Thank you Julene and Kathy for letting me share your pretty ideas.

And lastly, a little something from the Quill. With all the craziness going on around here I have not had time to decorate for autumn. The closest I've come is in preparing the autumn themed tutorials to share with you. Yesterday while waiting for the cutest little pirate and fairy to arrive with the rest of the family for a gathering I put together a little display using items from the autumn themed tutorial, a bountiful birdcage of pumpkin filled goodness...
A little non-traditional but then so were the colors I chose for my pumpkins...
Right now I have this prettying up the studio but intend to use it as a centerpiece for my holiday table...Got any pretty ideas over at your place? Be sure and leave me a little linky love in the comments so I can stop by and see what you have been inspired by.

I hope you all have a happy Monday!

Blessings,
Miss Sandy

  1. I enjoyed seeing all these pretty ideas. Now if I ever try them is another story. My little grand is death on my posies. Makes a beeline for them every time and ohhh, the results. This has been going on for two years!

Lovely to see you still at work doing the things that you so enjoy. Hope that everything settles down to days of joy and achievement and serenity, too, if such a thing be possible.

  2. Sandy, I love the cage idea. I keep seeing bird cages at the antique stores but haven't found one at the "right" price yet!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

And of course I love you birdcage autumn arrangement! I think I will try something like that for my dining room table. The colors would be perfect too!
Hope things slow down a bit for you so you can do some creating.
    Have a pleasant week.

  7. Hi Sandy,
I love the star bow and I think too that it will look great on plain paper and/or burlap. I have seen some white painted acorns (but I cannot remember where) which inspired me.
I'm also inspired by Eline, a dutch designer who has designed fabric which I am using for my daughters' bedroom.
