GYPSY MAGIC (GIVE AWAY SIGN UP)...

Please Note This Give Away is Closed
Recently as I have begun a more in depth exploration of my own unique creative style, I have come to one conclusion, while I have yet to specifically define it, my style is that of a wandering Gypsy.
It is as meandering as my thoughts.

I don't stay fixed on any one concept or any specific type of artwork for any length of time.
There is something in an idea that sets my Gypsy muse astir, my fingers dance to an unknown tune and they must follow her.

I have a need to keep creating, allured by the charm of her spell, being a roaming Gypsy, until the idea has become something tangible, my restlessness is temporarily quelled.
For a bit my muse is sated to cast her creative camp and linger there a while, then the caravan is packed and she is off and running once again in true Gypsy style.

My most recent stopping off point on my artful journey has been in jewelry making, long draping pendant style necklaces.  This piece, Gypsy Magic, features an old blurry photo of a wistful girl.  This is a symbol of my current expression of wishing I could better identify my creative style.

Swirls of antique bronze wire represent the casting of the creative wandering spell I have found myself under on my artful journey.  I chose to highlight the color purple, something I don't usually embrace, because it is often used to symbolize magic and mystery.  Some believe that by putting a little purple in your life you will increase your imagination and inspiration to its fullest.  In this case, it is an expression of  the magical mystery of my own personal creative process that I am trying to discover.

I feel the call to wander on and this piece needs a home so I am hosting a give away.

To sign up all you need to do is:
LEAVE A COMMENT ON YOUR FAVORITE CREATIVE COLOR AND WHY IT INSPIRES YOU.

Anyone is welcome to enter, you do not have to have a blog, be a follower, like, share, friend, or pin anything and international friends are welcome to enter!

A winner will be chosen and posted next Monday, April  22, 2013.

  1. Sweet Sandy,
first of all I would like to say how beautiful your creation is. A true piece of art and a treaure.
My favourite color would be a soft tea stained brownish color. It represents warmth, age and history to me and those are some of my favourite things.
I am a follower and very happy about it since years now.
    Many hugs

  2. Yellow is my favorite color , yet I seldom work with it. Autumn colors seem to keep popping up whether orange or brown.

Now this really is a bit of gypsy. My decorating style once was labeled Bohemian since I work with found treasures a lot. Very intriguing, my dear. I'll meet you at the Vardo later for a cup of tea!

My favorite creative color is indeed purple. It is the color where the day meets the night, both cool and warm at the same time.
Your newest piece is stunningly beautiful and how generous that you offer it in a giveaway! I look forward to seeing more and more from you. Thank you for sharing your journey. xoxo

  5. I painted my craft room lavender. Who knew that it's a color that's supposed to spark creativity? Lately though, I've had a hankering for orange (as a faint aging wash over something) and punching out some red here and there...

  6. Hi Sandy! Your piece is stunning, and I will happily anticipate wherever your creative journey may take you. My favorite creative color is sepia because of my love for old photos, and its ability to mix well with whatever color mood I am in at any given time. Thanks for this lovely opportunity! Have a great day. Sue

  7. Defining one's style is so difficult when so many things attract. I like the way you've been able to articulate yours. I'm getting closer to mine, but still have some thinking to do.

However, when it comes to color - no difficulty in choosing there - blue will always have my heart. It's the color of my husband and children's eyes, and of my two tiny granddaughters, of God's great sky, of hydrangeas and hyacinths, of berries and the deep deep sea. Oh, blue - so lovely!

  8. Dear Sandy,
this beautiful piece also speaks to my heart! The purple is like dancing faeries in the dark... and the wonderful charm also a little one just off to try her wings of tulle and lace!
I love purple with the antique bronze- it is an amazing piece.
    Hugs and love,Dorthe

  9. What a gorgeous work of your heart Sandy!! Love the little faded picture of the girl trimmed in the seed beads, so lovely and the colors work so well together. My favorite color has always been green. I am always drawn to it, although it took me a while to figure that out as I went through my blue phase.... Green is the color of "Life" and all it holds, a renewal, a rebirth, regeneration. And it is peaceful. I like to think it is one of God's favorites too as he used so much of it in this world and it goes with everything, the perfect compliment to all the other colors. It makes me joyful!! So glad you are creating again and sharing it with all of us. We have truly missed you friend!! Blessings, Linda

  11. How wonderful to see you creating and posting. This necklace is pure bliss. My mother was very Gypsy in her ways and purple was her favorite color. I would be thrilled to be in your drawing. I often try to channel my mother and her muse. Creative Hearts are Happy Hearts...

  12. Oh such a gorgeous piece of art which the gypsy in you has bought to light!
It has such a wistful feel about it as I imagine a gypsy would experience. I love where your bravery is taking you in this journey of the far away places within yet to be discovered.
I would be honoured to win such a beautiful piece of your new artwork.
I have just completed a "Gypsies Past" fabric book which I will post soon!
Oh and at the moment I'm loving deep plum with antique browns because I feel I can relate to the time worn and rich colours of gypsies past.
    Hugs,
    Suzy

  14. Hello dear Sandy, that is so sweet and generous of you. Your piece of art is absolutely gorgeous. I love the soft tones. The faded colours with the hints of purple, they mix so well together. The antique bronze wire swirls are fabulous and really give that special extra to it. Well, I could go on, cause I love every detail of it really. I'm honestly impressed Sandy, it's stunning.
What you're saying about the wandering muse in you I so recognize. There are so many intruiging paths to explore. And after every new corner so many beautiful surprises. I only recently found your blog, but I'll definitely will keep on following your creative journey :)
Favourite colour... actually I have not one particular favourite... but I must say I'm always drawn to bright greenish blues. They're so refreshing and relaxing. May be it's because I need more of that, lol.
What is your own favourite colour Sandy?

hugs and happy day to you,
    Wendy

  16. Try as I might, I always end up gravitating towards blue when I create. I guess because it's the color of the sky, it's peaceful, it reminds me of the beach...it's calming. Please don't enter me in your giveaway as I have already won a prize from you a few years ago and it still hangs on my wall -- mustn't be greedy! Hugs!

  19. Oh Sandy, this is soooo lovely!! I would be thrilled to win a piece of your jewelry and this piece speaks to me!!! I don't often use the color purple in my art, but I love to wear it and it is the main color in my garden!! As far as the colors that inspire me... the cool colors from the earth and sky. Blues and greens are are absolute favorites. And if they are combined to a lovely blue-green all the better! In the hot Arizona temps, it's the cooler colors that soothe me and bring me peace.
    xo,
    Karen

  20. Hi Sandy

believe it or not right now my favorite color is all the shades of white. I am working on classes with Karen Ruane of England and it is all done in white. Never knew there were so many shades of it.

Your necklace is breathtaking and whomever wins it will be a very lucky gal.

  21. I love the softness of the lace behind the hardness of the focal piece and wire. I just love lace especially if it looks old. Your piece is stunning.

My favorite color is aqua or turquoise. As much as I try other colors, I keep coming back to it.

Another favorite are neutral shabby chic colors. I like making jewelry and art with them but I love color too much to decorate with neutrals.

  22. Sandy, It is so refreshing to see you posting again. I am drawn to greens when I create and have to force myself to use other colors. I love green and I think it compliments other colors so I can use it freely in my art. The moss in your photos excites me as much as the beautiful piece of art.
I understand your restlessness and have been talking about the same thing on my blog for the last several weeks. I have also mentioned wandering from project to project while writing my "about me" page.
I had the same thoughts but again you manage to describe the wandering in such a poetic way.
