Last week as part of a course I am taking, ASAP (Artist Success Action Plan by Leslie Riley), I did an optional mini exercise on finding motivational or inspirational music. I came across this wonderful video that is not only right up my artistic alley in its imagery and presentation but with its questioning message. It raises the question of "What would you do if you were brave?"...
(Video/Slideshow of the song "If I Were Brave", written by Jimmy Scott and Jana Stanfield and sung by Jana Stanfield, Paintings by Pik)
"One of the biggest reasons why people don’t achieve their goals is fear. They don’t take the necessary actions because of fear. Fear causes people to think small so that there is a lesser chance of being disappointed. This song asks the question, “What would you do if you were brave?” If you knew you could not fail, what would you attempt to accomplish? Too many hopes and dreams are buried due to fear. They say that we are only born with 2 fears. Fear of falling and loud noises. All other fears are learned. What made up fear are you letting hold you back from your dreams?"

What WOULD you do if you were brave?
Digging up my Dreams,
Sandy
P.S. My brave thing? The thing I am doing right now? Creating and implementing a plan of action to really truly earnestly reach for a long held dream...only time (and perseverance) will tell.
I am too lazy to be brave. =D That's it. I've identified it and I'll deal with it. It's always been a challenge to be a lazy perfectionist. I am perpetually disappointed by every effort. Here's your nickel, Lucy!
ReplyDeleteOff to listen...
That was very nice...don't have a clue what the answer is yet...I hope that it doesn't mean going through these mounds of papers that are staring at me that aren't even mine. (It probably does, though, because that's what I think about most.)
ReplyDeleteI believe in you and know you can achieve our dreams Sandy, you are an awesome and kind, giving person, keep going in that direction of yours. Blessings to you!

PS I'm still enjoying my goodies!
Love seeing you back!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see a post from you pop up. I am being brave these days and working towards fulfilling a long-cherished dream. I'm keeping it close to my heart because it's fragile and I don't want it to be broken and discarded. I hope your dream is fulfilled, too.
ReplyDeletewhatever it is I know it will be wonderful. Be brave Sandy, because I want to know what wonderful things you have up your sleeve.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Sandy that dreaded fear! Well I think I'd quitt my office job and would open a beautiful and creative shop selling flea finds and all the things I love. Not sure though if I'd be able to let these things go easily lol.
ReplyDeleteStopping by today to let you know that I posted about the beautiful bracelet/cuff I won from you in my post from March 12th!
I have it on display in my studio and love to look at it!
Sending you happy Spring wishes from Germany

Hi Miss Sandy,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to pop over and tell you I've been thinking of you lately. I know how overwhelming life can be & how blogging is hard. Case in point, myself. I hope things with the family are good.
