Serendipity: Making a delightful or unexpected discovery

This weeks delightful discovery was an email that my cousins wife sent me. This little story really touched me.
This weeks delightful discovery was an email that my cousins wife sent me. This little story really touched me.

A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school.
As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up , along with lightning.
The mother of the little girl felt that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school and she feared that the electrical storm might harm her child.
Full of concern, the mother quickly got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school. As she did, she saw her little girl walking along confidently.
At each flash of lightening, the child would stop, look up, and smile.
Another and another flash of lightening followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look up at the streak of lightening and smile.
When the mother's car drew up beside the child, she lowered her window and called to the child, "What are you doing?"
The child answered, "I am trying to look pretty because God keeps trying to take my picture."

As God adds pictures to the pages of our life albums, not all of them will be pretty shots. Some of them might be blurred with our tears. Some of them might be out of focus as we stray from Him. Some of them might be filtered and softened around the edges as we respond to our need to change in some area of our life.
Many of our life pictures will indeed be beautiful, especially those in which we, like the little girl in this story, walk boldly and confidently, face uplifted to the Father, through whatever life storm that comes our way. We don't have to pretend, try to look pretty, or smile falsely with Him.
We can be certain that He has us in focus and that He can see the bigger picture beyond the immediate clouds that cover us. The snapshots that He sends our way are brief, over in a flash if we will but turn our eyes upon Him, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of this earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. He is our shelter from the tempest and the storm.
