WISH: A hopeful feeling of specific desire
Week before last when my friend Pam and I went flea marketing, one of the things I purchased was a small acrylic box stuffed full of junk jewels. There were some pretty cool pieces in there, many of which were mix-matched, parts and pieces, and some really good whole pieces. I honed right in on all the pearls. As a baby Belle being raised in the south my fondest desire was to have a sting of pearls. My hearts desire was met on my 13th Birthday when I received my first pearl. I have fond memories of playing dress up with my paternal grandmothers jewelry and her triple string of pearls was my favorite. She had a couple of pair of big gaudy pearl clip on earrings that I would wear until my ear lobes went numb. Sometimes I would bobby pin up my hair with her hair pins and don long dangles of strung pearls, screwing the earring backs in place while primping in the mirror.
When I saw all the various pearl pieces, real and faux, I knew I wanted to create something with them. Since pearls were my fondest wish as a baby Belle I thought it might be fun to create a "WISH" banner using some of the junk jewels from my purchase. I used a dandelion stamp to further enhance the wish theme. A necklace and mix matched earrings serve as the banner hanger. Vintage trims, buttons, glittered message, and other pearl bits and bobs embellish the banner. This would be a great idea to use some family pieces to enjoy them on display don't you think? I used twine and wire so that the pieces are detachable so you could easily do this without compromising the integrity or original use of the pieces. I added silk ribbons to the ends of the necklace where it is wired to the earrings to cover the wire. There was no need to add a hanger as the clips still work or if necessary the earring backs have little decorative holes in them so they could be hung on a nail. What is your favorite jewel and what fond memory do you have attached to it?
Blessings,
Miss Sandy

that is lovely Miss Sandy!!!
Hi Miss Sandy!
What a beautiful work of art! I adore it!! The possibilities are endless... I love the use of old jewelry.
Thanks for the lovely photo images. I feel the same way when I see old photos like that... so deeply sad that no one wanted them... what were the circumstances that they ended up in that desolate pile?? I'm so glad you were the one to adopt them. I'll be looking forward to seeing how you use some of them in the future!!
Hugs,Sherry
This is so pretty. Love the sentiment...wish. I do it all the time...wish I amy, wish I might. Love visiting your and seeing your shared photos of all things beautiful.

Sandy so lovely -- I love pearls -
They add such a sweet, delicate vintage, and timeless look to everything -- Love the taupe colors as well - Kathy - ga ♥
Good morning! So glad I found your lovely blog today! Love what I've seen as I've scrolled through your recent posts...
I'll be back often--hope you're having a wonderful day!
I love your wish banner. Such a great idea, and a sweet sentiment attached to it. I can just see you, dressing up with all the jewelry when you were a child. I know I did the same thing, and those darn vintage earrings sure did hurt. I don't know how on earth our mothers and grandmothers could wear them. Anyway, I inherited all of my mother's jewelry...mostly costume. My favorite piece is a butterfly pin, covered with light blue rhinestones. Mom loved butterflies, and so do I.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, Miss Sandy.

Your banner is fantastic beautifull, I so love the colors you made it in, and the old jewelry you put on.All so lovely, and gorgeus.

Miss Sandy - you are so very talented!!! That is a lovely creation!
Aren't pearls just the most classic thing EVER? I think so. I have some that were given to me by a dear friend many years ago. She is not living here anymore, but I think of her every time I pull them out!
So pretty! But then all your creations are. (I don't have a favorite jewel or any fondness attached to them. Except for earrings and my wedding ring, I don't wear jewelry, though I always enjoy seeing other women wear it. I do have a small collection of assorted beads and treasures gathered from here and there through the years. Nothing like your pretty pearls, though.)
I too adore pearls and your WISH banner is an ever so lovely reminder to wear mine.
Beautiful banner Miss Sandy! Your use of the pearls is stunning. I too love pearls and used to get into my Mom's jewelry and wear her pearls when I would play dress up.
Great idea to use the pearls like this! Now you have a beautiful banner and beautiful memories united, love it!
Dear Miss Sandy,
I think your banner is beautiful. I too love pearls. They're just timeless. I use them a lot in my crafts too. Thank you for sharing your banner and your wonderful photos as well. Have a great rest of the week.
Blessings, Sonya
Your banner is just awesome, Sandy! I too have a thing for pearls and always watch out for them at flea markets. They look so elegant and romantic and I love the shimmer.
FANTASTIC...I love it!
Hope today goes well for you!
Your banner is so creative...but then all your things are. My favorite is a necklace my Mother gave me, and it is even more precious to me now since I recently lost her...
Miss Sandy, the banner is beautiful and so is your Dream design. It goes without saying that what you described as the meaning behind the symbols on Dream is touching and as always, shows you aren't a shallow gal at all! Your artistry is your heart exposed.
Bless you, sweet friend,
Diane
