Serendipity Sunday: Routine Days.....

Serendipity: Making a delightful or unexpected discovery

"Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always."
~Psalm 105:4 (NIV)~

This has been a quite week here at the Quill with a rhythm of routine days and tasks. Most of the time I like a regular routine, however, sometimes I chafe under it and wish for a break in the boredom. Nothing seemed to be happening and the same old same old was growing tiresome. To compound matters I have been cooped up for weeks now due to all the rain in our region. My delightful discovery of the week came to me on a quite day when I was in need of a reminder to be thankful for routine days.

This is what I read:
"When I give you no special guidance, stay where you are. Concentrate on doing your everyday tasks in awareness of My Presence with you. The Joy of My Presence will shine on you, as you do everything for Me. Thus you invite Me into every aspect of your life. Through collaborating with Me in all things, you allow My life to merge with yours. This is the secret not only of joyful living but also of victorious living. I designed you to depend on Me moment by moment, recognizing that apart from Me you can do nothing.

Be thankful for quite days, when nothing special seems to be happening. Instead of being bored by the lack of action, use times of routine to seek my face. Although this is an invisible transaction, it speaks volumes in spiritual realms. Moreover, you are richly blessed when you walk trustingly with Me through the routines of your day."

Colossians 3:23; John 15:5; Psalm 105:4

~Jesus Calling by Sarah Young~

Praying your days this week are anything but routine as He fills you with the joy of His presence.

Blessings,
Miss Sandy

Well wouldn't that be wonderful to just relax and be and know that He with us? So simple. So hard sometimes. God bless your day, Miss Sandy.

Like you, sometimes I need a break from the routine. But then I realize just how much I cherish the routine (and now the discovery of His nearness during that routine).
Thank you for this new prospective!
May His rich Blessings be on you today!

It's funny how we tend to want what we don't have. What I would give to be having routine days with nothing special on the agenda. Instead I'm gearing up to speak at a homeschool conference this weekend. I'll be teaching three sessions and between all the preparations and dealing with nerves about public speaking, I've thought so many times about how I can't wait for things to be ordinary again. I just want to be able to stand in my garden with my cat rubbing my legs or sit in front of the TV ironing. Yet, I know that too many days of that would bring boredom.

What a blessed perspective you've brought to the everyday routine.

My Grandmothers were ladies with a joy that filled their homes. They seemed to do things with such grace and without question. I learned so much from these sweet ladies. It was a simpler time to me,but only because they made it feel that way. Thank You for reminding me of the love they gave to everything they did. I can still hear my Grandmommy singing as she made bread every Thursday.
Hugs, Mary

There have been times of pressure, trouble, or crisis when I have longed for just a routine ordinary day. Like so many things, we often don't realize their value while we have them. I try to remind myself of that when the ordinary seems too routine.

I long for routine days at home, Miss Sandy. Unfortunately, I will be working til we get another child out of college. But I'm thankful to have a job that the Lord dumped in my lap to help my family with. I know these working days are not wasted, but I'll be glad to be at home again someday, Lord willing!

Good post! I copied it to put up on my bulletin board at work!

You have given me a lot to think about. I need to invite the Lord into my routine moments. If I focus on him, perhaps I won't feel so bored at times.

Of course, I can always come over here and read your posts! That gets me going.
Elizabeth :)
