BIRD WATCHING...

Spring is quietly creeping in here at the Quill.  With it comes the return of the birds who have wintered in warmer climes.  We have the usual fare of plump robins decked out in their rusty red vests and brilliant blue birds singing happy trills.  I am most excited to see a pair of wood ducks at the nesting box out back...(Please excuse the clarity of the duck photos, these were taken through a window)

I sat and watched them for a long period of time as she checked out the interior...
And the leafy lawn...
He was only interested in the view...
They have made several return visits but have yet to decide between an old hollow tree, a decidedly rustic summer house in the east wood, or this fancier version of a ducky condo.

I noticed some unusual birds milling around the base of the sturdy old oak where the ducks were visiting, species of which I have never seen the likes of before...
A small flock of five hopping on rocks and posing near candy striped spring beauties...
Perky little beaks...
Beady little eyes...
And strange fibrous feathers...
They too are seeking homes, perches on new art pieces!
They are nesting nicely in the studio...
Awaiting fashionable new digs...
I hope you have enjoyed visiting my new neighbors.
Any signs of spring in your neck of the woods?

Love all those birds.
Spring is nearly here in England, lots of birds who are busy, busy, busy and rows of 'golden daffodils'.
Enjoy the new season.
Smiles, Angela.

Hi Sandy,
Yes, Spring is arriving! It is 63 degrees here! Isn't that wonderful? :) Our frogs and birds are out busy with their work. Your birds are beautiful. I must say I've never seen ducks in trees before either.
Your birds are so very cute. I love ALL the textures you put into each and everyone. And how you made their bills! Just darling, Sandy.
Enjoy your Spring!
Hugs,
Sonya

Not nearly as wonderful as the returning birds and the creations waiting for new homes. The best sign was that our favorite ice cream stop will open in nine days. That's always a good one.

I was lying down this afternoon after visiting a few blogs...some that called me in...when I remembered that there was a new post here and I was compelled to get up. Nosy, nosy me! :D

I took our daily walk to the pond with my baby grandson yesterday, to see the ducks, and was delighted to see the first clumps of daffodils and crocuses in various yards throughout the neighborhood! lots of people have green shamrock wreaths and cutouts on their doors!
Your ducks are beautiful!
Your handcrafted little birdies are sweet too!
Happy Spring! Be blessed, Linda
