A Few Finds.....

"A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked."
~Bernard Meltzer~
Last week, my friend, Pam, and I went Flea Marketing. This is one of our favorite things to do together. We were both feeling a little cooped up with all the foul weather we have been having and decided to brave the elements and see what we could find.

More than anything our flea market forays are more about fellowship than they are about finds. We always laugh and talk so much we are both hoarse at the end of the day. Last Thursday was no exception as we hit some of our favorite haunts, she, with her list of items she was looking for and me, with no list, open to the possibilities of what might strike my fancy.

At our first stop, Jones Antiques, we stood and dug through an entire suitcase of old ephemera, looking at every piece of paper in there, but only selecting a few to take home. I still had in mind my project and a few of these will be great. I also dug through a big wooden box of silverware and found four old spoons with great patina. In another booth I found a great old pale blue chicken feed sack.I don't know if you can see how pale and faded the color on the back of the sack is but it is perfect for what I have in mind. I love how it is spotted with age and so soft to the touch. Our second stop was at The Mall, a huge antiques store. I found an old copy of Birds of America. This will be a great source for nature inspired art projects.
Just look at these bits of beauty.

Lastly, we stopped at Flea's and 'Tiques, where I picked up a small package of discarded keys. Not exactly a fabulous find day but it was a fine day to spend with a friend! We found a little gem of a place yesterday and got some unique and fun stuff that I'll share with you as soon as I can get time to photograph it.

Tomorrow I'll be spending all day with my sweet all grown up girl shopping for things she will need for her first place. I hope you have some wonderful plans in store for your day too!

Have you found anything fabulous lately?
What is it you find to do with your favorite friend?

Blessings,
Miss Sandy

Hi Sandy, There's nothing like the companionship of an old friend to make your spirits bright. I love the Birds of American book you found. My Aunt had bookshelves full of books like that one. I could spend hours looking at those books when I was a kid. Hope you and your daughter have much fun shopping for her first place. Blessings to you this weekend.

I too wish that we could meet face to face! Especially visiting those antique malls over at your place. They are fabulous, you did some great finds again! I have two flea market friends, my cousin and another friend. I have a friend for coffee drinking and discussing all matters of life. My neighbour to go to the movies and my best friend since we were 3 to walk down memory lane. My friends make me happy and I hope I make them happy too. My worst nightmares are those without friends. Have another lovely day enjoying your last finds!

Thinking of you, dear Miss Sandy, and being a kindred spirit with you on letting our children fly. I have one son gone, one come back home for awhile, and my daughter is now 21 and off to another university even farther away. I can't see her very often, and I SO miss her. I miss my son, too, but my baby girl is my best friend and I am hers. But I wouldn't trade one minute of every emotion that she (and my boys) have made me feel. It's hard to comprehend how much more our Lord loves us! Cheer up. My mom always said, "A son is a son 'til he takes a wife; a daughter's a daughter all of her life." I'm finding that to be true!

Have fun shopping with your daughter. I missed out on that pleasure. Having all boys... there's just not much shopping trips to be had. Unless it's to Acadamy. :( Can't wait to see what you do with your treasures.

I am still in love the the feed sack slipcover I designed for my sons room. The colors are softly faded like yours.

The quote you shared is one of my favorites. Makes me smile every time.

My sweet girl came home for the weekend. Happy sighs....

I stopped by your blog to verify that you were still hosting your Sunday "theme day".

In case you aren't sure why I would do that, please first go here: http://thehousethatlovebuilt.xanga.com/712911712/today--/

and then read this one:
http://thehousethatlovebuilt.xanga.com/712911311/sept-theme-days/

From what I could see, you are no longer hosting yours. Are my findings correct? Either way, PLEASE let me know via: pink bunnies (at) sbc global (dot) net

THANKS!!!
