PAPERIN', PAINTIN', AND COMTEMPLATIN'...

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday weekend. Ours was full of family, fun, and of course, fireworks. In between celebrating I have still been working on the studio. All my supplies are officially housed with the exception of a lost organizer full of sewing pins, needles, thimbles, and such, as well as a box of various types of glue. I am suffering a bit of angst over the misplaced glues. A girls gotta have her glue!I am down to the last piece of furniture in the room to be repainted, a little accent paper added, and then I can move on to the pretty part. I have been paintin' and paperin' everything in sight! That is where the contemplatin' comes in. I have been considering all the possibilities with the decor of this room. The problem is that I have not actually worked in the space so it feels very foreign and strange to me. I am trying to make friends with it, really I am, but I still dearly miss my old little happy blue studio! I am still sorting out lighting issues too. The biggest is to fan or to chan (delier), to be hot or not, physically and stylishly, that is the question. All this decision making is giving me a headache!Even Baby has put on her thinking cap...Trying to help me to nail down a firm idea or direction beyond the bare bones of the room...The more I reflect upon it...The more I wish there were a shorthanded route to the finished product...When I was given the gift of space for the little blue studio, I was just taking my first shy peek at blogging and getting cozy with mixed media... It was a time of boldness and blossoming...It was a time of stepping out of the shadows into new realms of creativity...I am now poised between the old and the new with a little bit of the shyness returning as I make acquaintance with my new friend, wanting to be friends but unsure how to pursue it so I hold back a little...Standing in the doorway gazing into the new studio space I realized it was time to brush off the old angst of the sudden shift...This is an opportunity for a new chapter, to turn a new page, embracing change...To create a new landscape...That reflects a season of softness...A new place to gather my thoughts and ideas...To fan the flames of creativity...To find a new place and space that brings rejoicing to my soul...This little pause in all the paintin' and paperin' has me contmeplatin' on all the new ways I might flourish...If I open my heart to change accepting a new challenge. Friendship is not instantaneous, it is something that develops over a period of time as we grow to know one another. Perhaps this new studio and I will get along after all as we grow together, it into a place of inspiration and functionality and I ...well, where this new artful adventure takes me, that remains to be seen.

Wishing each of you a day that brings rejoicing to your soul!

Blessings,
Miss Sandy

P.S. I promise to stop teasing you with little sneak peeks of the new studio in the very near future.

Dear Sandy...and just when you think it's finally finished, you'll make more changes! But that's good! Because it shows how you are evolving in your creative personality. Nothing stays the same so I think you are just at the beginning of a whole new process. Enjoy the journey of becoming comfortable in your new surroundings as they welcome you. It's good that things are never a perfect fit lest we get stuck. Because you have more space now...oh my! More space to grow! And if anyone exemplifies growth, it's you.
Blessings!
Diane (who is loving all of the little peeks!)

It may be a visit to the ocean or it may end up sweltering here at home. It all depends on the capriciousness of one cranky little lady with Alzheimer's. My mother, sister, and I hope that there's an open window there for her to see through...

Your room will be such a delight. You know how new spaces feel so strange in the beginning and then feel so very much like home after a while.

Love your artful way of sharing the process...

I'm sure you will find the perfect way to turn the space into something beautiful and cozy, a place to work and be inspired. You have a track record for that sort of thing! ha ha

Too funny: I typed this comment and the word verification gave me the word "track". See God is trying to say something here. You have a great track record in decorating!

Dear Sandy,

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

I'm proud of you and all of your creative endeavors.

P.S. I hear you!

Love,
God

I know exactly what you mean about making friends with your new studio. It seems I just made friends with my "blue" studio and now we are moving into a new home and I will have a bigger studio. But, I'm not sure how I will like it. Angst....

Hi Sandy,
What fun to be able to create a new studio. When I moved to Brussels I had the same opportunity and thought I would become so much more organized and it would stay nice and tidy.....nope.....same old pile on the floor. but that is the way I work best. Thanks for stopping by my space and blog. Hope you love your studio soon! cheers form brussels - cathy

Miss Sandy,
Oh please, please no more hints. They are driving me crazy! Don't make me google your address & come see the beauty of it all for myself! I did love your old blue studio, but the changes you've made to this new space are wonderful. I especially want to see that white fence thing with the book pages behind it. Okay, close your eyes, take a big breath & say 'it's time for a reveal'! Lisa

I've been away from blogging for awhile but stopped by to see if your special space was ready for viewing.

Still hoping.
