Dancing by the Light of the Moon...

"On with the dance! Let joy be unconfined;
No sleep til morn, when Youth and Pleasure meet
To chase the glowing hours with flying feet."

~George Gordon, Lord Byron, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage~
In the inky dark of night,
She danced in the garden in bare foot delight. It was in these pre-dawn hours,
That she twirled among leaves and flowers.
The hem of her gown was ripped and torn,
Upon the last blushing roses thorn.
Her wrap became the veil of a fairy bride,
As she pretended in her moonlight glide. All her finery was getting soiled,
But her fun this night was not to be spoiled. She tilted her head so the moon and stars illumined her ornate hair,
While she gazed at her reflection in the pond, without worry or care.Tonight her WISH, her dream had come true,
Guess what it is, I leave the ending to you!I can't wait to read your creative answers!

I have been working on a process of making a slightly dimensional soft sculpted version of a paper doll and La Belle here is the result. It was a bit like being a mad scientist trying various processes and sculpting until I had one that was complete and looked right. I want to continue to play with the process to see if I can get more depth to the form.

La Belle is mounted to a handmade background of brownish taupe tissue paper and paint. I used a white pearl paint and layers of a rich cream and burnt umber to mottle the background. The white paint gives hints of shimmer. Her clothing is made from a coffee filter, bits of tulle, vintage lace with natural age spots, and a snip of vintage silk for her bodice. Her hair is braided, twisted, and sewn from real wool and is adorned with ostrich feathers, pearls, crystal beads, and ribbon rosettes. Her gossamer wrap is a snip of a white bridal stocking. Her "wish" is torn from an old tattered dictionary. She is mounted in a double framed shadow box. I like the inside frame of black and gold very much but am undecided about the wood outside frame. I may need to paint or change it up. Any suggestions?

I hope you all have a glorious day!

Blessings,
Miss Sandy

I'm no poet - can't think of an ending to the poem, but I think your frame would be pretty covered with dried rosebuds, bits of lace and tiny strands of pearls, maybe even a few star-shaped gemstones. She is truly magical and takes me back to my childhood. Thanks for the journey.

P.S. I should have stated that your shadow box is absolutely beautiful just as it is. It would be interesting to try different frame styles though - maybe on your next creation! Have a blessed evening.

Oh isn't she precious. And the poem is beautiful. She should dance on the wings of doves, and skim the tops of trees. I like the frame as is. But my creative streak is rather bleak. so what ever you decide will be perfect I'm sure :)Now I have to go home and watch somewhere in time, eating popcorn and fudge sigh I love that movie.

The reflection of a charming young prince was smiling back through.
At least I tried.
I know you can be a good girl until Christmas!

With Prince Charming by her side, she knew she would never be blue.

She's adorable Sandy. I wish I could offer suggestions but I'll leave that up to you. It's looks great!

...as she leaped and bounded and twirled, her heart grew giddy and overflowing with love did fill, for the touch of her Love in the garden did cause her to leap, with joy unbounded, laughter sounded-her Lord was here, in the garden !

Oh well, I am not a poet. Beautiful doll,thank-you.

Moonlight was fading, the sky turning blue,

Happiness was hers,
For at the dawn,
She would meet her true love,
On the dew kissed lawn.

My vote is the frame should be a soft burnished gold~antiqued.

She could tell by her image in the lake like a mirror,
That tonight she would no longer have any fear.
For she had grown to become a young woman of beauty,
Because in her heart was truth and purity.

Love your poem and now I'm waiting for the ending. Maybe something like "For Miss Sandy had created her on this day for you". She is so cute! Is there anything your not good at? Vicki Page
