"Romantic style is ~ Gentle settings of welcome, playful objects, sensuous shapes of curves and scrolls, distressed finishes of cream and taupe, the gently aged, where a refuge of comfort and beauty co~exist."

She stood with hands clasp in hopefulness, refusing to gaze into the mirror, yet dreaming of attending the party...
She knew there would be fine ladies clad in beaded white gloves with plumed hats and fine imported lace shawls...
She envisioned full skirted dress with layers of ruffles, strands of pearls...
and glistening diamond broaches...
She imagined the air would be perfumed with the scent of roses...
Candlelight would flicker across the rose papered walls, casting dancing shadows upon them...
It would be a wonderfully magical night! With a sad sigh she turned away from pinning her hair into place, averting her gaze so as to not view the obvious scar she bore...
Why imagine the impossible? Who would possibly ask her to dance? Besides, she had nothing to wear...
Her mother entered the room with a smile, arms full of all manner of finery. She clasp around her daughters neck a strand of great~grandmothers pearls, all the while coaxing her to step into a frothy multi~frilled creation...
Speechless she stood demurely before her mother with happy tears glistening in her eyes and a deep appreciation beating in her heart...

Everything was just as she imagined...
Sometimes dreams do come true...
This sweet little figurine is one I found in a flea market. Not being sure what she was used for I did some research and found out that she is a...napkin holder. The napkins are folded into small triangles and flair out into a pointed skirt when inserted into the slits. In the photos above I have dressed her in a frilly coffee filter skirt. She was made exclusively for Lillian Vernon. The poor girl at one time had simply lost her head and now bears a distinct scar, a simple strand of pearls now covers up the damage.
