CALL ME BACK...MAYBE...

Call me back to blogging...maybe.  I wanted to touch base and thank you all for the wonderful messages of support during my illness.  It was a very long 8 week recovery.  I am back at full steam ahead but as is often the case, life happens.  My dad has had a serious health condition arise and my time has been divided between making 4+ hour round trips to see to his care and trying to help my step-father with my mother.  Sandwiched in between has been trying to catch up on all that I am behind on from being sick for so long.  Needless to say, blogging has been way on the back burner.  My hope and plan is to be back for sure next week....maybe.  It all depends on how things go with the parents.

In the meantime I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

IN RECOVERY...

Hi Sweet Friends!  I wanted to pop in and say a quick hello and leave a little missive to let you know that I will be missing for a few more days or so.  I am in recovery from a very slight sort of freak accident in which I received a mild concussion, a nice goose egg, some slightly blurred vision, some strained neck muscles, and a major headache.  I am fine, really, just getting back on my feet and having to catch up on a few things on the home front.
I have so many things to share with you as soon as I return, including my fabulous new studio storage desk that I can't wait to use!  I hope you are all well and enjoying the anticipation of Spring.  We have our first signs here...
I hope you each enjoy a blessed a beauty filled day!

AN UPDATE AND A HELLO...

I wanted to drop in and say a quick hello and to let you know that I am still here! Thank you all so very much for all the heartfelt prayers and messages of encouragement and healing for my mother. She has completed a huge part of the testing process and we now have some answers. We were fortunate to be working with one of the top neurologists in the United States, he and his staff have been wonderful.

My mother has a form of epilepsy that is stemming from the right side of her brain. We are unsure how or why this started to happen. It could have been from a blow to the head she received in the past or it could be related to the dementia, which can sometimes happen. She is on medication that is controlling the symptoms and doing really well. There has been some irreversible damage to two portions of her brain due to the seizures.

She is back home now and enjoying the beautiful spring weather we are having here. She has finally made peace with having to let go of my childhood home. She and my step-father moved just 1/4 of a mile down the road from us a couple of years ago and until recently she has not been happy here but her attitude has changed in the last few weeks and I think she will indeed find some joy in her semi-new environment. One very amazing thing is that her thinking has been very clear lately and she seems more like her old self. We are so very thankful for all the good thoughts and wishes.

I hope to be back to regular posting and responding to your comments next week. Today, I have the entire day to myself! I am beyond excited to spend it as I wish. I am off to explore the out of doors, my heart is longing to experience spring through more than a mere look through a window. I hope you will do something today that brings you joy, have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Sandy

BRIEFLY...

Briefly: for a short time
Spring has come in for a landing here at the Quill, perching itself ever so lightly on the beginning buds of the tree tips...Spring and I are both trying to get our bearings with this rapid fluctuation of seasons...
We are both hanging in the balance between times of change...
Once we get our bearings we will spread our wings and be ready to resume our normal flight pattern...
In the meantime, I will still be away, but, I hope it is only briefly...
Thank you all so very much for your outpouring of care and concern. There is so much I feel I must leave unsaid about the current situation here and I hope you will understand that to say more than is necessary might dishonor those involved. This situation goes well beyond just the illness of my mother, who is stable at the moment, and still going through the testing/diagnosis process.

I am in the midst of cleaning out my childhood home and getting it ready for sale. My mother was a sentimental saver so there is much to sift through. My time has been spent walking down memory lane with the ghosts of the past colliding with the reality of the present. I hear their footsteps on the hardwood floors and the echo of their whispers in the empty halls. The happy and the sad mingle with the mundane task of packing, sorting, and discarding. 45 years of living are packed within its walls and rafters. Like an unfolding story of people in the past and the present, a book well read, much beloved, has reached it final chapter, the end page is in sight and the cover will close.

Our time as we know it here, the changing seasons of life and earth, they are here but briefly, savor them!
